I don't generally find myself out in the world on the day after Thanksgiving. I like the peace of my living room, over looking my wooded back yard listening to the birds singing and watching the still falling leaves dance and flutter to the ground. It's SO much more appealing than being among the throngs of sleep deprived, caffeinated shoppers navigating their cars into the most favorable parking spaces and trying to avoid elbows and bags.
Still, I don't boycott the day completely (thank you Internet). Up early this morning, not for the excitement of shopping, but because three cats were hungry and couldn't wait one more minute for their morning routine.
Anyway, up early, I get online and, of course, check out Barnes and Noble's Website. They've put their signed editions front and center (something I had to go looking for a week or two ago), and their Leather-bound Classics are now on sale for the usual Buy One Get One 50% off (or, buy 3 get one free by couponer's logic).
I also noticed that there is a new Star Wars Trilogy edition. Same stories as the previous two (the first featuring a black Darth Vader cover, and the second featuring the white R2D2 cover). Now there is the "gold" C3PO cover. ($25)
They're also featuring the newer (green covered) Jungle Book that I mentioned in an earlier post.
The Winter Queen and Other Stories seems to be the title they're pushing the most, but I'm eyeing A Wrinkle in Time (Madeleine L'engle), To Kill a Mockingbird (Harper Lee), as well as the very pretty Moby Dick (who knows, maybe I can actually get through the first three chapters this time).
The sale is a brief one, lasting from Nov. 26th (2015) to the wee hours of the morning on Nov. 30th (for online shopping) or close of day on Nov. 29th (for in-store purchases).
*Also of note, the Website has bumped their prices up to match those of the retail stores (usually the Website lists the titles at a 20% discount to those found in the stores).
B&N is also showcasing their "gift editions" - some at a favorable discount this weekend, in particular:
George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones Leather-Cloth Boxed Set (Song of Ice and Fire Series): A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons
This is a leather-cloth bound (softcover) set of Martin's Game of Thrones series. The books are small (6"x9"), but this weekend are 50% off the original $75 price tag. (AND, if you use the coupon code 30BFRIDAY, you'll get another $11 off - not bad).
