The Loney, Andrew Michael Hurley (Tartarus Press, October 1, 2014)
First published in a small run by Tartarus Press, a U.K. publisher specializing in (very) limited editions. According to their website, the first printing of The Loney was limited to 350 signed copies. (Good luck finding any, btw.)
It was then picked up by John Murray in the U.K. (in 2015) and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in the U.S. (in 2016) for a larger distribution.
The Loney won the 2016 Costa First Novel Award as well as The British Book Industry Debut Novel Award and The British Book Industry Novel of the Year Award.
It's had several different covers:
- The "First True Edition" is the Tartarus Press cover (shown above).
- Next came the more graphic cover showing The Loney printed vertically with the "y" transitioning into silhouetted tree branches.
- This cover was released with a white cover and black text (I believe this is the John Murray "First Edition Thus" published August 7, 2015) and
- A black cover with white text (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, "First American Edition" published May 10, 2016).
